With only 4 days this week we were jammed pack with fun!

Here’s what we were up to in specials:

STEM:

This week campers in STEM observed our 2nd week of ants building their farm (and burying their dead 😱), and  our caterpillars turned into chrysalises. We also performed observations with osmosis and diffusion using eggs, candies, water, vinegar, and food coloring. Snap circuits a big hit with Crusaders as they worked to channel electricity to create all kinds of gizmos and gadgets. Finally our green bean Martian plants that we planted during week 1 continue to grow!

Sports:

This week in sports and games we played a variety of games. Early in the week we went under the sea with Sharks and Minnows and got crazy with four way Zich Ball. Later we mashed up two favorite sports for wacky Tennis Baseball. Finally its not a week at Lincoln Summer Camp with out a few games of classic soccer.

Outdoor Education:

This week in Outdoor Ed our Ramblers, Crusaders and Trailblazers honed their archery skills working on their technique, making sure to keep their elbows high! Our Pioneers continued to work on team building challenge activities like the pool noodle challenge seen in the pictures below.

Arts and Crafts:

This week campers got in the spirit of the fourth by creating glitter fireworks.

They also had a chance to make paper plate frogs.

Finally our Crusaders and Trailblazers continued to work on their intricate patterned designs. Check out some of their amazing work below!

Music and Drama:

In Music and Drama campers were moving and grooving this week to dance songs such as the Cha Cha slide, Cupid Shuffle and Macarena. Campers made their own rhythms and beats with cup songs and rhythm sticks, tested their acting skills in freeze games and belted out camp cheers. Older students raced to beat each other in Heads Up Charades game and sang many song lyrics in a musical game of Encore. Many campers are looking forward to performing songs and showcasing talents in next week’s Lincoln Live show!

We also had another week of fun filled afternoons. On Tuesday we had a Water Blaster Battle and a Dunk Tank.

On Thursday the Ramblers and Crusaders played Four-Way Capture the Flag while the Pioneers took on Builders and Bulldozers and a GIANT game of Zich Ball. On Friday it was time for another Carnival. This week among our games and face painting we had two humongous inflatable slides. Check out the scene in the video below!

This week also featured our Under the Sea Dress Up Day. We had turtles, scuba divers, mermaids, squids, octopuses, and so much more! We even had the counselors that came dressed as the Seven “C’s”. Congrats to Brady on winning the Costume Contest!

Last but not least we had another great week of field trips.

The Pioneers had a wonderful time exploring the Franklin Park Zoo. They saw all kinds of curious creatures as they roamed from habitat to habitat.

The Ramblers set off to Legoland. They had an amazing time exploring, building, and creating!

The Crusaders had a blast sliding their way through Water Country on a hot Wednesday! The giant drop slides were a big hit for thrill seekers and the raft rides provided a cool tour of the park.

The Trailblazers began their week with a camp favorite trip to Six Flags. They spent the day riding roller coasters, cooling off in Hurricane Harbor and enjoying sweet treats.

Next they were off to Boda Borg where they found themselves swinging through the jungle, crawling through a battlefield, and making their way through a haunted house, among other adventures. It was an awesome experience testing mind, body, and teamwork. After the adventure they headed off to a local park for a picnic lunch.

We are having an amazing time meeting, laughing, singing and playing with all the campers and we can’t wait for more smiles next week!
