As campers enter grades 4, 5, and 6 they move on to our Pathfinders Camp. This is the highest level of our traditional day camp program. These campers are ready to take part in multi-step projects and experiments in Arts & Crafts and STEM. They have the abilities to create their own songs and skits in Music & Drama and play full-fledged games in Sports. Campers hone their growing Archery skills and challenge themselves with more complex feats during Epic Adventures.
Typically our rising 6th graders join our Trailblazer Travel Camp program. Right now we are still waiting on guidance from the state about whether or not this program can run, and if it can what the limitations/safety precautions will be. What we are sure of is that the group size will have to be smaller, thus limiting our ability to offer spots to all interested campers.
We also know that our current 5th graders didn’t get to have a final year of our K-5 camp. No final Camp Show, no final Color War, no final swim lessons, and they missed out on many of other projects that only our older campers get to complete.
As 2 of our directors are 5th grade teachers in the Lincoln Public Schools we also know first hand what students are missing this year. With all their specials taking place inside of their classrooms, art, music, and wellness aren’t the same and we know that students (and those specialist teachers) miss them.
Finally, while we know that our 5th graders are growing in their independence, we also know that many families of campers this age are still looking for a safe and fun place to send their campers when they might be working.
So considering all of these factors we are excited to announce we have decided to expand our Pathfinder Program to include rising 6th graders!
This will give us the ability to:
- Offer a plethora of spots to rising 6th graders for a full 5 day a week program
- Offer our Extended Day program to them (which will run until 5:00 pm)
- Give campers the final year of camp they missed
- Allow campers to partake in the full on campus experience: Music and Drama, Arts and Crafts, Archery, Swim Lessons, Free Swim, Sports and Games, and Epic Adventures with its giant inflatables, slip and slides, water blaster battles and so much more!
Registration for 6th graders will open on Friday, March 12th
